The Water Challenge
Prior to installing Ridge Water's treatment setup, the site experienced high mineral hardness and particulate sediments in raw groundwater. This led to frequent scale buildup inside pipes, boiler heating elements, and bath fixtures, while significantly increasing routine maintenance overheads.
Reduce total hardness below 50 ppm, eliminate sediment carry-over without flow-rate drop, and automate media regeneration to run during off-peak hours.

Mystique of Samsara
The Vision
The owners of Mystique of Samsara had a clear vision—to create a hospitality property that is beautiful, environmentally responsible and deeply connected to its Himalayan setting.
The gardens, pathways and landscape were planned to work naturally with rainfall and the site's terrain. Rather than seeing rainwater as runoff to be quickly discharged, the property was designed to capture, manage, recycle and reuse it.
The result is a landscape where sustainability is not hidden infrastructure—it is part of the experience of the property.
The Water Challenge
Mountain properties need to manage rainfall carefully. Intense rain can create rapid runoff, erosion and drainage problems, particularly on sloping terrain.
The challenge was to develop a water-management approach that could handle rainfall while protecting the landscape and making maximum use of the available water.
Design Target
Capture and utilize rainwater, manage natural drainage, reduce uncontrolled runoff, and integrate water management seamlessly into the gardens and landscape.
Ridge Engineered Solution
Ridge worked on the property's rainwater recycling and integrated water-management approach, complementing the natural landscape design.
The system incorporated:
Rainwater harvesting and recycling
Rain gardens and water-sensitive landscape design
Planned surface drainage and natural water movement
Reuse of harvested rainwater for landscape requirements
Integration of pathways with the surrounding terrain
Vertical garden as an additional green element
Landscape design that works with, rather than against, natural rainfall
Every element was considered as part of a larger water–landscape ecosystem.
Resilience Through Design
During the heavy rainfall events of 2023 in Himachal Pradesh, when large parts of the region experienced landslides, flooding and significant damage, the property's carefully planned drainage and water-management system helped it remain safe.
The experience demonstrated an important principle:
Good water management is also climate resilience.
By allowing water to be captured, guided, absorbed, recycled and reused, the property was better prepared to deal with extreme rainfall.
Design Outcomes
The project demonstrates that sustainable water management does not have to compromise aesthetics.
The result is a property where:
Rainwater → Landscape → Recycling → Reuse
works as one integrated system.
Beautiful gardens, natural drainage, rainwater recycling and green infrastructure come together to create a hospitality environment that is sustainable, resilient and naturally beautiful.
A beautiful landscape that doesn't just receive the rain—it knows what to do with it.
Measurable Results
Following commissioning, the site achieved a 95% reduction in limescale deposition, cut chemical cleaner usage by 40%, and eliminated unscheduled plumbing repairs across the facility.
