The Water Challenge
Prior to installing Ridge Water's treatment setup, the site experienced high mineral hardness and particulate sediments in raw groundwater. This led to frequent scale buildup inside pipes, boiler heating elements, and bath fixtures, while significantly increasing routine maintenance overheads.
Reduce total hardness below 50 ppm, eliminate sediment carry-over without flow-rate drop, and automate media regeneration to run during off-peak hours.
Ridge Engineered Solution
RIDGEX RWH at Hotel Firhill, ShimlaGoal: Achieve Net Water Positive Status with a rapid ROI.
The Journey: It started with a candid, serendipitous conversation. We met Mr. Abid Dogra, owner of Hotel Firhill, through a sequence of mutual contacts. We were introduced for an entirely different purpose—he wanted to introduce us to a distinct religious organization to implement our technology there. But the conversation naturally turned to his own immediate problem: chronic, severe water shortages. We pitched the concept of a multi-stage rainwater harvesting system on his 4,000–5,000 square foot roof. He was curious and open-minded, agreeing to try a step-by-step pilot. That decision changed everything. Since 2017, his system has been perfectly reliable, saving him millions of liters, with an investment that was fully recovered in less than one year.
Challenge: Chronic, severe water shortages forced heavy, expensive reliance on tanker water, straining operations and finances.
Solution: RIDGEX implemented a phased Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) system across 4,000–5,000 sq ft of roof area.
Stage 1: ‘Ridgex’ Patented Dual-Stage Filter (coarse mesh + first-flush diverter) for clean collection into labeled storage tanks.
Stage 2: ‘Ridgex’ Dual-Vessel Purification (Multimedia + Polishing) and Automated Monitoring (PLC) for real-time quality assurance and tracking.
Results (Since 2017):
Massive Savings: Over 30–40 lakh liters (3–4 Million Liters) of water conserved.
Water Independence: Achieved full operational security, free from local scarcity.
Rapid ROI: Total investment recovered in less than one year, driven by the elimination of tanker costs.
Conclusion: A sustainable, replicable blueprint for achieving water security and profitability.
Measurable Results
Following commissioning, the site achieved a 95% reduction in limescale deposition, cut chemical cleaner usage by 40%, and eliminated unscheduled plumbing repairs across the facility.
