The Water Challenge
Prior to installing Ridge Water's treatment setup, the site experienced high mineral hardness and particulate sediments in raw groundwater. This led to frequent scale buildup inside pipes, boiler heating elements, and bath fixtures, while significantly increasing routine maintenance overheads.
Engineered Solution Target
Reduce total hardness below 50 ppm, eliminate sediment carry-over without flow-rate drop, and automate media regeneration to run during off-peak hours.

The Vision
The most remarkable aspect of this project was the owners' vision and intention to create a hospitality property that remains connected to nature.
Instead of treating the natural stream flowing through the property as something to be diverted or controlled, the development embraces it as an integral part of the landscape.
Traditional khul water channels, a gharat (water mill), natural water features and the surrounding Himalayan ecology have been thoughtfully retained and incorporated into the property.
The owners' commitment extends beyond water. The property follows a plastic-free approach and incorporates a natural biodigester, reflecting a broader intention to minimize its environmental footprint.
Our Design Objective
To translate this environmental vision into a practical and sustainable water and wastewater management strategy that works with the site's natural hydrology.
Ridge Engineered Solution
Ridge prepared the feasibility study and design framework for wastewater management, rainwater harvesting and the overall natural water-management system.
The approach considered:
Existing natural stream and water flows
Rainwater harvesting and management
Natural drainage and site topography
Existing khul water channels
Traditional gharat and water features
Wastewater treatment and reuse possibilities
Natural biodigester integration
Ecological landscape management
Reduction of conventional and intrusive infrastructure
Rather than designing a system that separates the built environment from nature, the approach was to make water management part of the property's natural landscape.
Design Outcomes
The project demonstrates how an eco-conscious hospitality property can integrate water, wastewater, landscape, traditional systems and ecology into one holistic approach.
The project celebrates the owners' willingness to invest in a different kind of development—one where natural water is preserved, traditional knowledge is retained, waste is minimized and infrastructure is designed around the landscape.

Measurable Results
Following commissioning, the site achieved a 95% reduction in limescale deposition, cut chemical cleaner usage by 40%, and eliminated unscheduled plumbing repairs across the facility.
